What is keratin?

Keratin is a protein in the body, which is found among other things in hair, nails, skin and teeth. Due to external influences (climate, blow-drying / straighteners, coloring, etc.) the hair loses the body's own keratin.

The active ingredients hyaluronic acid and Prodew500® in the MaxLiss keratin treatments have the same effect as the body's own keratin and replenish the lost keratin. The hair is optimally restored due to the effective and unique combination.

What is a keratin hair treatment?

A keratin treatment is a nourishing and moisturizing treatment that restores damaged and frizzy hair and converts it into healthy, smooth or curly and shiny hair.

For which kind of hairtypes are VanMarco keratin hair treatments?

VanMarco's keratin treatments are suitable for all types of hair. So also for curly hair and frizzy hair.

A keratin treatment is the solution for hair problems such as greasy, frizzy, unmanageable, unhealthy, dull or damaged hair.

All keratin treatments are suitable for all types of chemically treated hair (including bleached hair, highlights, coloring, perm, and dull and damaged hair).

How long does the result of a keratin treatment last?

What should I not do during the first two days after my keratin treatment?

Important: Do not use styling products, do not put tails or clips in the hair (so do not fasten). Do not wash / blow dry the hair, unless otherwise advised by our keratin specilalist.

I want to wash my hair for the first time after a keratin treatment. What am I not allowed to do with my hair and what is allowed?

Not allowed:

  • To use shampoos with sulfates. Sulfates drastically shorten the life of the keratin treatment.
  • To use hair products that contain alcohol. Do not use hair gel, hair mousse, hair spray, etc. Alcohol shortens the life of the keratin treatment.

  • To use a sulfate-free shampoo, also available at VanMarco. Such a shampoo maintains the keratin treatment.
  • Securing the hair with elastic, clips, etc.
  • To blow-dry the hair daily.
Can I swim after a keratin treatment?

Yes, as well in the sea/lake as in a pool, but not within the first two days after your treatment. Always rinse your hair thoroughly immediately after swimming, so that the salt residue and grains of sand cannot cause damage.

What is chemically treated hair?

Chemically treated hair is hair that is, for example:

  • bleached;
  • colored;
  • relaxed;
  • treated for a Japanese straightening.
What is the duration of a keratin treatment in our salon?

The duration depends on the thickness and length of the hair. A keratin treatment takes a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 hours.

Can I dye, relax or bleach my keratin treated hair?

Yes, you can. Hower, not earlier than 14 days after a keratin treatment.

Can I have my hair dyed on the same day and treated with keratine afterwards?

No, unfortunately that is not possible.

A chemical treatment and a keratin treatment cannot both be performed in one day. Let the hair rest for at least 14 days!

Can I dye, relax or bleach my hair before a keratine treatment?

That's okay. However, there must always be 14 days between these two treatments.

In the period after the keratin treatment, how often can I wash my hair?

About 2 times a week. If you wash it more often, the keratin will wear out of the hair faster. If you wash the hair less often, the protective layer can be damaged.

How often can I repeat a keratin treatment?

As often as you want (at least 2 weeks between treatments).

Will a keratin treatment stay in my hair forever?

No. Keratin is not a permanent straightener, but it is restorative and caring for your hair for a certain period.

The keratin gradually disappears from the hair through wear and washes. To benefit from the keratin treatment for as long as possible, it is a must to use the right aftercare products. We will inform you during the treatment about the best possible maintenance of your keratin treatment.

All VanMarco keratin treatments are completely formaldehyde-free.

What kind of a result can I expect with a keratin treatment at VanMarco?

The result is stronger, frizz-free hair with a healthy shine that feels soft, light and natural. In addition, the hair is tangle-free and easier and faster to model.
